Notes

Small things worth knowing as you peruse this site. Where the data comes from is in the credits.

The name
Terra Lecta is Latin. Terra is earth, or land. Lecta comes from legere, which means both “to read” and “to choose, to gather”. Reading is then choosing which land to stand on.
Years marked *
An asterisk marks an approximate year: when the work was composed or first set down isn’t known exactly, so we give our best estimate.
BC and AD
As is the tradition, years are written BC, Before Christ, or AD, Anno Domini (“in the year of the Lord”).
c.
“c.” before a year stands for circa, Latin for “around”: the year is close, but not certain.
Imagined places
Some books are set in places that never existed. They are always marked as imagined, and are never shown as if they were real.
Goodreads and StoryGraph
Bringing in your shelves from Goodreads or StoryGraph might come later. For now, enjoy remembering the books you have read by marking them as yours.
