Terms
Last updated 24 October 2026
These terms cover your use of Terra Lecta. By creating an account you agree to them and to the privacy policy.
The service
Terra Lecta lets you keep a list of the classics you have read and see them on a world map: where each book is set, where its author lived and where it was written. It is free and provided as a personal project.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from your map page.
Your content
Your reading list, dates and ratings are yours. You let us store and display them to you, and to others only if you make your map public. Don’t choose a username or display name that is offensive or impersonates someone.
Fair use
Don’t try to break, overload or scrape the service, access other people’s accounts, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
Where the information comes from
Book, author and place information comes from Wikidata (CC0) and Wikipedia (CC BY-SA), with some places reviewed by hand. Pictures come from Wikimedia Commons under their own licences, credited where they appear and on the credits page. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors. We work to keep it accurate but cannot guarantee that every place or date is correct; tell us when something is wrong.
No warranty
The service is provided as it is, without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and ending
We may change these terms; if a change matters, we will tell signed-in users before it takes effect. We may also close the service, in which case we will give notice so you can download your data first.
